  1. Place 1 cup of beans in a pot with a 2-inch strip of kombu.
  2. Soak 4 hours or overnight.
  3. Finely chop the kombu.
  4. Add 4 cups of water and bring to a boil.
  5. Lower the flame, cover, and simmer for approximately 20 to 30 minutes.
  6. Strain the beans and drink the liquid while hot.
  7. You may continue cooking the beans longer with additional water until soft and edible for regular consumption.
